Case Study: Building a Muse

The business plan described here is outlined the book the "4 hour work week" by Tim Ferris. I'm adding my personal experience in succesfully implementing it.

Creating a muse

A muse is an automated business that provides a passive source of income. Will it makes us rich? Probably not. Will it gives as a steady monthly cashflow with minimum management time that allows us to do other stuff? You bet.

I'm gonna describe one type of muse; the one that ships products.
The most important thing is to start with the end in mind; we have the model, then the prize range, and only then we find the product.

The Rite Of Passage: Becoming a Men Amongst Men (And a Business Man)

Pavel Tsatsouline

After I tored something in my shoulder bench pressing 85kg at age 16 I was devastated. Weightlifting is one of the things I find the most joy at. It took me 6 months to be able do anything other than running and playing football (soccer), so all I could do was read.

That was when I run into Pavel Tsatsouline, a fitness instructor from the former Soviet Union, author of the best sports book I've ever read:

Power to the People! and Enter the Kettlebell.

The EV plus decision: All that matters

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect"
  Mark Twain

As a poker player, you are very familiar with Expected Value and Variance. Hell, even if you play nl5 or just got interested in poker, you should understand every poker decision you take  weights these 2 components. In general we only consider EV; we try to become long term winners and hope variance evens out in the long run.

The January Challenge

Goal Setting

We already stablished here our goal is to develop a kickass life trough the adoption of EV+ decisions.
So, now I have to pick things I can change. The most EV is in picking important stuff. For me, at this moment, poker and my body.

So here are the goals to be achieved in January:

Goal #1: 60 000 Hands of NL 100 SH Holdem (3 hours/day app)
Goal #2: 13% Body Fat (starting at 17%)*

Sure I could do that, by never leaving home (we geeks can do that easily), becoming a vegan, a nit 12 tabler, and kill myself in boredom. That's why there will be some complementary rules. The purpose is doing the above in a way that is sustainable in the long run.
